The Meditation of My Heart

Psalm 19:14  May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight oh Lord my rock and my redeemer.

Even as I write these words for others, I am brought under conviction for the meditation of my heart is not pleasing to my Lord.  There are those who have injured both myself and my loved ones and it is very hard to purge my heart of ill-will toward them.  But my Lord will help me and remove from me these evil ponderings.

To be forgiven, I must forgive.  Though the burden is heavy, the Lord is mighty and He will help me in my time of weakness.  For He says "My Grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." (2nd Corinthians 12:9)  And even now my Lord, I come to thee and plead my cause.  Remove from me this hot anger and let me be as your lamb, quiet and at peace and following your voice.  Help me to forgive, even as thou hast forgiven me.  Quiet my raging thoughts and the deep-seated bitterness in my soul, and take from me the sin that sits like a rock in my heart.  Help me to forgive.  Many have been my enemies my Lord.  Help me to forgive them all and move out into the sunlight where your children enjoy your company.  I don't want to be alone and in a dark place, nursing my anger and my dislike of this particular person.  Forgive and help me to forgive also.

There is no need to nurse old wounds.  Let the Lord of light apply His healing love to your weary heart tonight.  Be at peace.  The Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.  Rejoice and be glad for the Lord lives to help us and releave us of our burdens.

"For God So Loved the World....."

Good Morning!  Welcome to A Light in the Night once again.  There are many rules in the Bible, many gifts of the spirit.  There is the gift of prophecy, discernment, tongues, faith, and many, many more.  But the Bible tells us that the greatest gift is the gift of Love.  It says, "For God so Loved...".

God is Love.  He loves the little sparrow enough to know when one falls.  He loves the outcast, those in prison, and he admonishes us to pray and put ourselves in the place of the prisoner so we can identify with him.  Intercessory prayer.  To put yourself in place of, or with, the afflicted and the hopeless, and thus develop the compassion we need when we pray for others.

When we reach out in intercessory prayer, we are using the gift of Love.  To love others is to glorify God.  I am not speaking of romantic love.  But the pure love of God, the Holy Love of God.  He so loved us all that He sent Jesus, His perfect Lamb, to be His sacrifice for us because our own righteousness can never get us to Heaven.  Faith in Him insures us we have inherited not only the Lamb of God as our priest, but Eternal Life through Him.  It is as easy as inviting Him into your life.  He wants to come in, to comfort, to give us joy, and to laugh with us and sing with us and rejoice with us.  He tarries, yes, because He wants all to come.  He wants all of us at the Wedding Feast with God Almighty.

I can quote scripture all day, so can the enemy.  But if I live my faith, rather than talk about it, I will be an example for others to follow.  If you love sincerely and passionately, you can change circumstances for those around you by your love.  Love is patient, kind, is not puffed up, does not behave itself unseemly, endureth all things, believeth all things, and the love of God can heal.  Faith without works is dead.  But if you add the secret ingredient, Love, then your faith can move mountains!

Faith as small as a tiny mustard seed can literally move mountains...mountains of sin...mountains of fear...mountains of greed and lust and the pride of life.  "Greater love hath no man than that he would lay down his life for his friends."  He did it out of Love.

If you are in need today, in need of a friend, in need of someone to really care what your life is like, then all you have to do is open that door of your heart, invite Him in, and then Believe!  He will come in and He will literally change your life.  He's the only one who can.  It's between you and God.  You don't need to confess to anyone but Jesus, because Jesus is the only one who can forgive you and give you the love you so need.  It's free.  You don't have to put money in a tray for Jesus.  He said "...render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's and unto God what is God's."  Your soul is Gods gift to you.  One day, you will die, and your soul will return to God who gave it.  It's hard to live life without Him.  He can give you joy in your soul.  Unending joy, love, courage, faith, the power to live a good and holy life, acceptable to God, all because of Him.  He Loves you.  Come today, and sit in the pastures with Jesus and tell Him your hearts desire.  He longs to love you.  Let today be the first day of a life lived with Jesus.

The Lamp

Welcome to A Light in the Night!  I am glad to welcome all who might find this site interesting and helpful in the face of all the troubles we face together as a society.  The state of our nation, our world is a frightening and discouraging sight, but we are not doomed to years and years of decline as we might fear.  If we pray for one another, and light the path of those who walk in darkness, we will begin to rise on this uphill journey and we will see changes for the good, for God is in control and perhaps we will all learn to love one another and uphold one another by prayer and witnessting to those in need that God is alive and does care about His children.  We are all his children.  All of us are important.

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Psalm 116.1  I love the Lord because He hath heard my voice and my supplications.  2  Because He hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.  Also a favorite is Psalm 119:105  Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  We don't have to walk in darkness.  We don't have to resort to violence.  We don't need to drown our problems with alcohol.  We don't need to resort to drugs to lift us out of our problems.  He is the Light of the world and He has all the answers.  He is gentle and loving and kind as well as mighty and omnipotent.  The Bible mentions that "...It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God", and so it is.  But the Bible also tells us that "God is Love".  I see him as my Father.  He is always there for me, in every situation, every disagreement, every hurt, every discouraging moment.  He has been there when I tried to will myself to die.  He cared.  He was by my bed at night, listening to the things I thought, and was concerned that one of his sheep was injured and afraid.  He could feel my fear, see my inner soul, and he was concerned.  He loves you too.  Those of you who are out there alone and afraid, trying desperately to hold onto something, anything, anyone, know in your heart that somewhere in the darkness, a Shepherd stands waiting.  Waiting for you to turn around on your downhill journey, turn around and see the light lighting your path back to Him who loves you.  He created you and He knows you better than anyone.  You are not alone.  Your tears are not unnoticed.  Your dreams are not for nothing.  He can give you the desires of your heart.  He just asks to be the first one you think of when you are in need.  Any need.  I want to let my light shine, and here I can witness to many that God has changed my life.  He can change yours too.  It's not too late.  It's never too late!
God is patient.  He waits for you.  Turn around....someone is waiting.  Someone who loves you like nobody else can.  If you really trust Him, really commit your life to Him, He will come to you and be the light for your path.  A lamp unto your feet.  He can transform your life and give you joy in place of sorrow.  Trust Him, for he cares for you.
